POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION PURPOSE

Night Operations Assistant Store Managers (ASMs) are responsible for supervision of Back End operations (e.g., Receiving and Freight Team), Front End operations (e.g., Cashiers, Lot, Phone Center, Returns, Special Services) and/or Office operations (e.g., Computer Room, Vault) (Note: Areas of responsibility vary by store volume). Night Operations ASMs are responsible for ensuring that their stores are Grand Opening Day Ready each day. They accomplish this goal through managing the proper merchandising, and optimizing the efficiency of, all operational areas. Night Operations ASMs play a crucial role in driving safety standards and compliance throughout the store. In addition, they work with the Store Manager and other ASMs to improve overall store profitability, solve problems and train and develop Associates. In order to be successful, they must have strong planning, problem solving and leadership skills. They must also be capable of managing their departments and working with the Store Manager, other ASMs, and associates to accomplish goals.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensuring Excellent Customer Service: Ensure quality service to internal and external customers. Ensuring Customer concerns are solved effectively and promptly. Resolve customer concerns quickly and effectively. Ensure appropriate staffing in operations areas. Conduct audits and action plans to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Managing Operations Associates: Recruit, interview and recommend qualified candidates to Store Manager. Motivate, coach, train, and develop associates. Communicate Home Depot objectives to associates. Develop strategies with store manager and ASMs to drive store sales and profitability. Work with associates, peers, and store manager to plan for upcoming events and identify potential problem resolution.
  • Managing Inventory Associates: .Manage and motivate inventory associates to ensure inventory is maintained and customer needs are met. Ensure that inventory team understands relationships among perpetual on-hands, average sales per week, effective inventory, planning period and order quantity.
  • Manage Front End Operations Team: Ensure efficient operations of cashier, service desk, lot and remote cashier locations. Ensure proper execution of service and credit programs. Ensure proper maintenance, merchandising, and organization of Front End area.
  • Manage Back End Operations Team: Align staffing schedule with truck schedule and ensure that merchandise is received and delivered to sales floor efficiently and appropriately. Walk store at the end of each shift to ensure "Grand Opening Day Ready" status each day. Manage Receiving and Freight team efficiency. Take actions to minimize shrink.
  • Manage Office Operations: Ensure associates keep accurate records and reconcile business daily. Ensure functioning and maintenance of all store equipment. Ensure SOP guidelines are followed for Kronos system.
  • Other Duties: Follow SOP for openings and closings. Sign for petty cash, markdowns, time slips, refunds, etc.

  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

    ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

  • 18 years or older

    EDUCATION REQUIRED

    The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

    PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
